First of all, too high and too low power status has a negative impact on the life of lithium batteries, while the number of charge and discharge cycles is secondary. In fact, most electrical appliances or batteries labeled as rechargeable times are based on the discharge of 80 percent of the benchmark. Experiments have shown that for some laptop lithium batteries, if the battery voltage is often increased by 0.1 volts above the standard voltage, that is, from 4.1 volts to 4.2 volts, the battery life will be halved. If the battery life is increased by 0.1 volts, the original life will be reduced by one third. A long period of low or no power will make the internal resistance of the battery to the movement of electrons more and more, thus resulting in a smaller battery capacity. NASA, the American space agency, has set the battery consumption on its Hubble space Telescope at 10% of the total capacity to ensure that the battery can be recharged and discharged 100,000 times without having to be renewed.


Second, temperature also has a significant impact on lithium ion battery life (a negligible factor for mobile phones and other small electronic devices). Subfreezing conditions can cause lithium-ion batteries to burn out as soon as electronics are turned on, while overheating can reduce their capacity. Therefore, if the laptop is used for a long time with external power supply and the battery is not removed, the battery will be in the high heat discharged from the notebook for a long time. More importantly, the battery will be in the state of 100 percent power for a long time and will soon be scrapped.
